Findings from a trio of surveys describe how technicians prefer to learn; the parts shops are buying; where AI could add the most value to the aftermarket

The Joint EV Trends and Outlook Forecast released at AAPEX 2022 reports that battery electric vehicles (BEVs) accounted for 6% of new vehicle registrations in 2022 and are forecast to reach 56% of vehicles sold in 2035 and 81% in 2045. This would translate to 19% of the U.S. car parc being BEVs or plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) in 2035 and 42% in 2040. 

To prepare attendees for this rapidly expanding market, AAPEX 2023 will introduce the EV Experience to highlight companies on the show floor with the latest EV products.

Joe’s Garage, a real-world shop setup on the AAPEX show floor, officially was introduced in 2021. It has since grown to include 10 fully equipped bays with working lifts, running vehicles and a source capture vehicle exhaust extraction system, as well as a front counter.
