Tom Shay is a savvy fourth-generation small business owner whose expertise helps businesses. His family business was a general store with gas pumps, which started in 1924. Tom began work at the bottom, learning lessons in management and ownership from the older generations. They filled Tom with knowledge and situations to help him understand the intricacies of financial understanding; the strategy of the business, deciding the products and services to be offered; unique and non-traditional ways of marketing a business; and, importantly, how to develop and build a great team of employees and co-workers.
Tom loves presenting to share his knowledge in both live and virtual events. He’s earned the Certified Speaking Professional distinction, attained by only 8% of speakers. Tom’s presentations are interesting and filled with stories that share great learning experiences. He also provides his audience with ideas that are quickly actionable when audience members return to growing their businesses. Tom is also a prolific writer: 13 small business management books, a business accounting/business planning college textbook, and 400+ columns in 75 trade publications. He has been nominated three times for the Jesse H. Neal award for editorial excellence in business media.
