She has brought to market innovative ways to meet the growing demand for automotive service, including Pep Boys Mobile Crew state of the art trailers and expanded capabilities to serve fast-growing fleets, and established Pep Boys as an installer for leading online tire retailers. Intro to Hybrid Vehicles

Over the last several years, the number of hybrid electric vehicles on the road has increased dramatically. Electric/gas hybrids alone have doubled from three to six million since 2015. The participants will also learn how to service and diagnose older hydraulic steering systems in the Ford F150 and the instructor will share experience of errors and reasons for failures of hydraulic steering systems. One of the biggest mistakes we witness technicians making is the assumption it’s automatically the pump when they diagnose the steering heaviness. There are a couple of different reasons for this to happen, which the participant will learn, as well as where noises in these systems are coming from and how they are being fixed.

Dan’s automotive career began when he bought and repaired a 1959 Cadillac convertible at age 14. His parents did not realize for several months that the car was running, and Dan was test-driving it. It was immediately sold. Since that time he worked as both a technician and service advisor at several independent repair shops and new-car dealerships. Dan’s real skills were developed as an independent auto repair shop owner. Early in his career as he purchased his first shop, he realized there was much to learn. Dan became passionate about learning all he could about the auto repair business. He attended seminars, business schools and was a member of RLO’s Bottom-Line Impact Groups™. In addition to his hands-on experience, Dan also acquired his speaking and instructional skills by attending Western Washington University. Supporting the local vocational college as a substitute instructor and serving on its Board of Advisors furthered his credentials. Additional instructional and public speaking experience came when he and his wife Paula presented day, evening and weekend courses to the public on household financial management and planning to audiences up to 100 in number. In 2010 Dan became President and owner of RLO Training. He continues to passionately work to further the automotive industry and encourage shop owners and their teams in achieving personal and professional best. Frank Choi has over 25 years of experience in the automotive industry, specifically in the aftermarket. He is currently the business development manager at DENSO Products and Services Americas, a leading supplier of advanced automotive technology, in Long Beach, CA USA. His responsibilities include leading the growth and evolution of the company’s diagnostic and service-related products in multiple verticals. He joined DENSO in 2014 as a senior product manager of its connected services group where responsibilities included guiding the development and launch activities of aftermarket vehicle diagnostics and service-related products. As a Certified Scrum Product Owner, he works closely with software development teams in order to deliver innovative industry facing web and Android applications. Prior to DENSO, Frank was a project manager at Toyota Motor Sales responsible for the day-to-day business of Toyota Safety Connect and Lexus Enform telematics services. Frank also acted as the project lead with Sirius XM connected vehicle services. Frank’s passion and dedication to the automotive aftermarket led to receiving the SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association) Icon of the Year award in 2008.

He worked with vendors on managing, sourcing and marketing in the Tool & Equipment, Batteries/Electrical, Brakes and Under Car categories on behalf of NAPA AUTO PARTS. Jason came to NAPA Headquarters after a successful career in Grand Rapids, Michigan where he worked in several NAPA Store and Distribution Center roles as well as working as a Territory Sales Manager and a Tool & Equipment District Manager. At Schwartz Advisors, Rick has advised private equity firms, aftermarket management teams and boards of directors on growth strategy, M&A strategy and due diligence projects. Rick oversees operations of Schwartz Advisors buy-side, sell-side and strategic planning consulting practices. Rick is a former member of the Auto Care Association Board of Directors, and he received the prestigious Northwood University Automotive Aftermarket Management Education Award. Prior to starting Schwartz Advisors, Rick held various senior-level positions at Nestle, Macy’s and The Upper Deck Company. Rick received an MBA from the University of Southern California Marshall School of Business and a BA in International Relations from USC.
